HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Programme 2018 Music Video

The HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Programme (the Programme) aims to foster a more inclusive society, enhance cross-sector collaboration, and help charities and social welfare organisations build capacity. Supported by the Home Affairs Department, the Social Welfare Department and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), the Programme has supported more than 1,400 projects benefiting 6 million man-time since its launch in 2012.

During the video planning phase, we recommended to HSBC’s programme coordinators the use of physical transitions to convey the theme of inclusivity. Renowned Hong Kong singer-songwriter Phil Lam passes a ball to children, symbolizing the younger generation. The children then pass the ball to adults, representing the broader community. The scene transitions to a dance group, which connects with the elderly, and continues to link with multi-ethnic individuals and women’s groups, ultimately achieving group inclusivity and uniting the community.

HSBC announced that the "HSBC Hong Kong Community Festival 2018" held its opening ceremony today, marking the official launch of the "HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Programme." To align with over 500 young students serving as "Campus Community Ambassadors" for the 2018 programme, the theme song, *Uniting Communities*, was re-arranged with a brighter, more dynamic, and vibrant rhythm. Renowned Hong Kong singer-songwriter Phil Lam was invited to perform the song and participate in the filming of its promotional video, reflecting the programme’s longstanding mission to unite community efforts and build a better future.

The opening ceremony of the "HSBC Hong Kong Community Festival 2018" was officiated by the Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Matthew Cheung Kin-chung; HSBC Hong Kong Limited Vice Chairman and Chief Executive, Peter Wong Tung-shun; HSBC Greater China Chief Executive, Helen Wong Pik-kuen; HSBC Hong Kong Chief Executive, Diana Cesar; HSBC Bank Charitable Fund Non-Executive Chairman, Laura Cha May-lung; Hong Kong Council of Social Service Vice Chairman, Larry Liu Tat-yin; and Hong Kong Council of Social Service Chief Executive, Chua Hoi-wai.

Peter Wong Tung-shun, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of HSBC Hong Kong Limited, said: "HSBC is deeply committed to Hong Kong and firmly believes in the immense potential of our communities. Since 2012, through the 'HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Programme,' we have supported social welfare organizations in funding over 1,000 innovative and meaningful community investment projects across Hong Kong’s 18 districts, benefiting more than 3.5 million people. By fostering a spirit of unity, we aim to enhance the quality of life for our citizens. I hope today’s celebration acknowledges the contributions of charitable organizations, school groups, and volunteer colleagues in building an inclusive and harmonious community."

The "HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Programme 2018" continues its theme of *Uniting Communities*, allocating HKD 18 million to fund 50 projects. Through community activities across 18 districts, these initiatives inspire creativity and promote participation to foster an inclusive and harmonious society. This year’s "Campus Community Ambassador" initiative attracted 500 students from 38 secondary schools, with the programme expected to benefit over 480,000 individuals.

Diana Cesar, Chief Executive of HSBC Hong Kong, stated: "HSBC’s success is closely tied to Hong Kong. Many citizens contribute tirelessly to society every day. This year’s 'HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Programme' continues to empower participants from diverse backgrounds, industries, and age groups to turn their creative ideas into action, delivering sustainable positive impact. The programme’s success relies on the dedication of these passionate individuals and organizations. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, our charitable partners, and our outstanding volunteers."

Larry Liu Tat-yin, Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, remarked: "The HSBC Hong Kong Community Partnership Programme brings positive energy to Hong Kong society. It not only connects diverse community groups, encouraging active participation and mutual support, but also mobilizes local organizations, young people, and elderly volunteers across 18 districts to build community capital, extending the programme’s impact to every corner of our communities."

Following its expansion to the Pearl River Delta last year, the "HSBC Community Partnership Programme" builds on its encouraging achievements by hosting "HSBC Community Festivals" in Guangzhou and Foshan, two major cities in mainland China. The programme currently spans 14 cities and over 350 communities in mainland China, supporting approximately 1,300 community projects since 2013 and benefiting over five million people to date.

As the lyricist mentioned, "Golden Strawberry" reminds us of many people and things with great qualities that are unjustly overlooked. We should pay more attention to those abandoned or forgotten items. Sham Shui Po in Hong Kong is filled with second-hand markets and flea markets, where many treasures await discovery, such as second-hand cameras, watches, vinyl records, and turntables. These are items we once cherished but later discarded, which can still be found there.

Therefore, I decided to shoot in this location, utilizing its unique features to integrate into the song, achieving the desired effect.

When we discussed the video release with the record company, they decided to experiment with releasing the video vertically, making it more accessible for viewers using mobile phones. As a result, only the creators will have the horizontal version.
